DESCRIPTION: Sextants- 2 (Two) Parisian Made Sextants: A. Hurlimann, Paris for T.S. & J.D. Negus, New York, 5.5 inch radius, blackened brass frames, signed brass arcs with inset silvered scales with graduations from 0 to 170, vernier adjustment by milled edge tangent screws, index magnifiers, one with multiple shades for horizon and index mirrors, sighting scopes, and wood handles, all in dovetailed mahogany boxes with old paper labels or repair tags.
CONDITION: black finish on brass frames has worn off on some of the edges. Scopes and eyepieces are incomplete. Silvered scales have darkened considerably. One of the wood boxes has detached hinges and a lot of packaging tape residue. One of the sextants appears never to have had sun shades. Dimensions are for wooden box. Sold "as is ".
